My Entrepreneurship Experience (Week 2)

During my last two years of schooling I joined forces with an amazing entrepreneur named Dar. He had been a medical salesman for a few years and was tired of being the underdog. He called me one day to ask me to help him with some documentation stuff for a new business he thought up. Since I was the freshest brain he knew he thought I could offer the most efficient work. His energy throughout the process was like a fire. He got about five people on his team to help him with this great medical device he wanted to invent, and they all climbed aboard pro-bono.
I gained a lot of experience helping him out. I was able to construct his entire business plan, develop marketing materials, network with doctors regarding, and see what it was like to pitch ideas to potential investors.
Unfortunately we weren't able to get any bites for our product in the first year. I focused my attention on other things, but Dar is still adamant about finding someone to invest in his product. As soon as he finds the capital I am certain it will take off. Its almost sad that the money we could be earning right now is just not being earned because of the investing that we need.

I am a business major and this class is part of my core requirements for graduating. I enrolled in this class this semester because I thought it would be a helpful start for my schooling here at UF. I hope that I can get some insight about how to be more aggressive or less maybe, in order to be able to help a huge product actually launch.

Nice to meet you!

  1. Hi Brittney have you and Dar explored community funding tools like Kickstarter? I haven’t used something like that myself but those options seem like great ways to expose your product to a large set of professional and casual investors.

I’m taking this class in my first set of UF classes too. If you get a moment have a look at my post here.

  2. Hey Brittney, very interesting story you have here. Hopefully the funding is found for the business. However, even if it never takes off (which i'm sure it will), the experience and knowledge you gained from being involved will certainly help you down the road.
